Founder's Messages,
Bentota Sugatha Elders’ Home and Social Service Institute which was started on the 31st of March 2001 in a small house in Bentota, with inmates of 5 elders, has risen to 3 two-storey buildings at present. There are 85 inmates in this elder home and they are all provided with all the facilities. Only a small amount Rs. 20/- is paid per day for inmates by the Government for the maintenance of our elder home.
Although most of the people who live around the elders' home are engaged in tourism and there has been hardly any problem with regard to the maintenance of this. Institute during past, but as we find it rather difficult to maintain this elder home at present, you are all and honorably requested to join hands with us in supporting and assisting in order to maintain this social service.
බෙන්තොට සුගත වැඩිහිටි නිවාසය සහ සමාජසේවා ආයතනය 2001 මාර්තු මස 31 වන දින වැඩිහිටියන් තිදෙනෙකුගෙන් ආරම්භ කර, මේ වනවිට දෙමහල් ගොඩනැගිලි තුනක් සහ නේවාසික වැඩිහිටියන් අසූ පස් දෙනෙකු වෙනුවෙන් පහසුකම් සපයා තිබේ. එක් නේවාසික වැඩිහිටියෙකු සඳහා රජයෙන් ලබාදෙන්නේ දිනකට රුපියල් 20/- ක් වැනි සුළු මුදලකි. එම මුදල අප වැඩිහිටි නිවාසයේ නඩත්තු කටයුතු සඳහා ප්රමාණවත් නොවේ.
අප ආයතනය අවට ප්රදේශවාසීන් බහුතරයක් සිය ජීවන වෘත්තිය ලෙස සංචාරක කර්මාන්තය ආශ්රිත රැකියාවල නියුතුව සිටී. එහෙත් රටතුළ බවතින වත්මන් කොවිඩ් වසංගත තත්වය හමුවේ ඔවුන්ගේ ජීවන මාර්ග ද අහිමිවී තිබේ. මේ වනවිට ප්රදේශවාසීන්ගෙන් ලැබෙන දානමය, මූල්යමය පරිත්යාග සියල්ල නතරවී අති හෙයින් අප ආයතනයේ දෛනික කටයුතු පවත්වාගෙන යන්නේ ද ඉතා අසීරුතා මධ්යයේයි. මෙම සමාජ සත්කාර්ය පවත්වා ගෙනයාමට අප සමග අත්වැල් බැඳගන්නයි ගෞරවයෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටිමි.

When I joined in Sri Lanka Administrative Service, I had the opportunity of serving as Divisional Secretary of Bentota, I think that it was a special turning point in my life While serving as the Divisional Secretary of Bentota throughout seven years, I had the chance of meeting a person named brother, Dr Cyril Rajapaksha. He expressed his willingness before me that he would like to hand over his house for elders home, which had given him shelter to live, that was how I came to get connected to him, I informed him that if he was really interested in running is as elders home, I said that I too could give him my assistance officially’
As a result of this discussion, which I had with him, an elders' home was founded on 31st of March 2001 with five inmates of elders, by the name of Sugatha Elders ‘Home. By now, there are 85 inmates at this elders' home.
This elders home had once won the 3rd place in Southern Province, thereby placing a step forward. I am happy immensely and honestly thankful to the Social Service Department of Southern Province, the Divisional Secretariat Office of Bentota, other government Institutions and Non-Government Organizations, and the Philanthropists and well-wishes and Donors for the continuous support and Co-operation in Numerous ways, thank you very much for all of you.
මාගේ රාජ්ය පරිපාලන සේවයේ සුවිශේෂී සන්ධිස්ථානයක් වූයේ බෙන්තොට ප්රාදේශීය ලේකම්වරයා ලෙස සේවය කිරීමට අවස්ථාව ලැබීමයි. පුරා වසර හතක මාගේ රාජකාරි කාලය තුළ ආචාර්ය සිරිල් රාජපක්ෂ නම් වූ සහෘදයා මුණගැසිණි. එහිදී ආචාර්ය සිරිල් රාජපක්ෂයන් මාහට පවසා සිටියේ තම ජීවිතයට සෙවන දුන් සිය නිවස වැඩිහිටි නිවාසයක් සඳහා පරිත්යාගකිරීමට කැමති බවයි. එහිදී ප්රාදේශීය ලේකම්වරයා ලෙස මා ප්රකාශකර සිටියේ වැඩිහිටි නිවාසයක් ලෙස පවත්වාගෙන යාමට හැකි නම් එවන් වූ සද්කාර්ය සඳහා මාහට රාජකාරි වශයෙන් සහයක් ලබාදිය හැකි බවයි.
එම සාකච්ඡාවේ ප්රතිඵලයක් ලෙස මාගේ මැදිහත්වීමෙන් වර්ෂ 2001 මාර්තු මස 31 දින සුගත වැඩිහිටි නිවාසය නමින් මෙම සමාජසේවා ආයතනය බිහිවිය. එදා වැඩිහිටියන් පස් දෙනෙකු ගෙන් ආරම්භ කරන ලද වැඩිහිටි නිවාසයේ අද වනවිට වැඩිහිටියන් 85දෙනෙකු කාරුණික රැකවරණය ලබමින් සිටී.
වර්තමානයේ දෙමහල් නිවාස සංකීර්ණයක් දක්වා සංවර්ධනය වූ සුගත වැඩිහිටි නිවාසය දකුණු පළාත් සමාජසේවා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ අනුග්රහකත්වයෙන් පවත්වන ලද තරගාවලියේ තෙවන ස්ථානය හිමිකරගැනීමට ද සමත්වීම සුවිශේෂ කරුණකි.
එමෙන්ම මේ වනවිටත්, බෙන්තොට ප්රාදේශීය ලේකම් කාර්යාලය, දකුණු පළාත් සමාජසේවා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව ඇතුළුව රාජ්ය සහ රාජ්ය නොවන සංවිධානවල, ප්රදේශ වාසීන් ගෙන් ලැබෙන අනුපමේය සහයෝගයත් සිහිපත් කරමින් සුගත වැඩිහිටි නිවාසය තව තවත් ඉදිරියට ගමන්කිරීමට අවශ්ය ශක්තිය සහ ධෛර්ය ප්රර්ථනා කරමි.
